They are inconsistent
There might be a moment when you feel like you’re reaching a breakthrough with them but then they disappear for a week. Those who are emotionally unavailable tend to jerk around the people they are dating by alternating between making them feel safe in one moment and disregarded in the next.
They are physically distant
Aside from being emotionally unavailable, maybe they are flat-out unavailable to you as well. If they ghost you and pop back up again, take ages to respond to texts or return your phone calls, and you just overall have a hard time pinning them down, they might be emotionally unavailable.
The conversations are shallow
If the person you are seeing avoids deep conversations and usually keeps things light, there is a huge possibility that they are emotionally unavailable. Someone who doesn’t want to share detailed information about their family, childhood, or past relationships might not be a person who is ready to create a genuine bond or connection, let alone engage in a serious relationship.
They call all the shots
Do you find that you typically only see them when it’s on their terms? If they expect you to go with the flow of whatever it is they decide to do and have little-to-no concern for what you might like to do, chances are they’re emotionally unavailable.
