“If we love our city, if we love our way of life, if we love our culture, we have to be willing to protect it,” T.I. said. “We have to fight for it, and the way we do that is to make sure there are people in office that represent our best interest[s] … because one thing about the culture? Once it’s gone, it’s gone.”
As someone who has lived and acted in Atlanta for over a decade now, Keshia Knight Pulliam spoke about the importance of supporting the arts community.
“Atlanta has become so much the Hollywood of the South,” Knight Pulliam said. “So many productions are coming here, so many opportunities are opened up for so many people, and it’s vital that we continue this.”
Whitfield said she endorsed Dickens because of his promises to reduce crime in Atlanta.
“I have been in Atlanta for almost 30 years and never have I felt more afraid to pump my gas, go to the grocery store for my kid or even go to the mall,” Whitfield said. “The crime in Atlanta needs to stop. We need to vote for a mayor who’s willing to fix the crime and also support us women.”
