“Colin Kaepernick is bigger than life right now,” Davis said. “He’s huge, man. There’s a lot of people who are with him and against them, [but] you’re going to get that when there’s something you really believe in. I love him dearly. I’ve always had love for him, and as long as he’s doing well, that’s all that matters.”
In his time since retiring from football in 2020, Davis has also placed his hands in various industries, from entrepreneurship to investing to acting to producing. Earlier this year, he produced the film A Message from Brianna, which debuted at the American Black Film Festival. His passion to constantly operate in multiple fields is something that comes from within, and it’s sustained through being kind to himself.
“I think for Black men it’s very important for us to be able to use self talk and visualize things,” Davis said. “Visualization is extremely important. How many times you ever talk about, mention or think about somebody and they pop up? We say it all the time, ‘Ah. I was just talking about you!’ That is crazy, right? It’s because it’s the law of attraction. So if we visualize and manifest these things into our life, we’re going to have them all the time. It’s unbelievable that a lot of us don’t do that, especially Black men, we just go about our day.
“It’s very important that we prioritize and do the necessary things that it takes for our spirit, our self being, self talking and not being afraid to be vulnerable. All of it boils back down to vulnerability. .. So I encourage our Black men, and Black people in general, to be able to be vulnerable enough to be able to do things that they’re not accustomed to doing because only will help you to be better.”
