As a leader, what do you see the role of mentorship to be, and what is your mentorship practice?
So I would say, in the day-to-day business that we have, it is very much transactional because McDonald’s is a global brand that is built on systems and routines. Part of being a transactional leader is being able to set a vision, set very clear goals and objectives, and be able to have your team understand and follow them. This way, whether you go to McDonald’s in China, Detroit, or Atlanta, you have a very consistent product and a very consistent experience.
In my day-to-day, it’s definitely transactional. Here’s what we need to make happen, so let’s do it. When I think about my higher good and who I really strive to be, it is to be a transformational leader that really sets a vision for my team and inspires them, promotes them, and helps them to achieve all that they can be, not only in business but also in life. Also, part of that is being a servant leader and recognizing that we were all put here for a greater purpose and with a greater plan.
