Fitness trainer DJ Mitchell shares 3 important tips for staying fit and healthy

What is RockBox?

It’s a 50-minute workout. It’s not boring, we have fun and the results are real here. We never do the same type of workout. It’s boxing and kickboxing for half the class, and then it’s high-intensity interval training for the other half of the class. We turn the music up high, and we turn the lights down low. We like to call it, “fight club meets nightclub,” and we get after it. We have a huge community-type feel here. We all help each other reach our goals. We have people coming from all across the globe and we have different nationalities. We have people that come in different sizes, different shapes, different goals. We’re just here to help each other reach those goals, so they can ultimately become the best versions of themselves.


Can you give us three tips for people that are looking to get fit this year?

First, you just have to make that commitment. Don’t psych yourself out. It’s not easy walking into a gym, or to any gym, especially one that you’re not familiar with. So don’t psych yourself out, make that commitment in your head. Actually going through and moving forward would be the second step. And the third step is to keep going at it. Just keep going, keep pushing yourself, and just know that it takes hard work. We all want something, whether it’s a lot of money or to lose a lot of weight, we want it to just happen if we snap our fingers, but it doesn’t work that way. You might win the lottery. But for the most part, it’s going to take some hard work. Make that change in your head, make that dedication in your head, take action on it and then work hard to ensure yourself that you reach the results that you’re looking for.
