On Feb. 18, Alabama State University hosted the Honda Battle of the Bands showcase. This was the first time the showcase took place on an HBCU campus, and it included six college bands: the Alabama State University Mighty Marching Hornets, the Langston University Marching Pride, the Morgan State University Magnificent Marching Machine, the Savannah State University Powerhouse of the South, the Texas Southern University Ocean of Soul, and the Virginia State University Trojan Explosion.
