The biggest debates are usually centered around music, and the most recent debate has been about who is the greatest rapper of all time.
At the beginning of February, Billboard compiled a list of the 50 greatest rappers of all time, which got a lot of people talking, including the rappers. Lil Wayne, who was No. 7 on the list, was the most recent rapper to say something about his ranking.
The Notorious B.I.G., Eminem, Tupac, Nas, Kendrick Lamar and Jay-Z were all listed ahead of Wayne.
“I will tell you that I am a motherf—— one,” Wayne said on the” Zane Lowe Show.” “Everybody whose names you named, they also know I’m number one. Go ask them. They know what it is.”
Many on social media have debated whether Wayne is better than Jay-Z, who was ranked No. 1. If you’re looking at it from a numbers perspective, the two are close when it comes to Billboard. Wayne has three No. 1 hits on the Billboard Hot 100, while Jay-Z has four. Wayne has 25 of his songs in the top 10 historically, while Jay-Z only has 22.
From a rapping perspective, Jay-Z has been making hits the longest, and Wayne has been hot since he started and is still producing hits to this day. There’s also an argument that Wayne has more versatility in his music than Jay-Z, and his discography is open to a wider audience.
Since it looks like the two are pretty much neck-and-neck, this debate seems like more like a preference. Who do you think is the better rapper?
