La La Anthony collabs with Now and Later candy to support Black-owned brands

The partnership is highlighting the importance of self-care

La La Anthony recently partnered with Now and Later® candy on July 24, to support Black-owned self-care businesses such as Buttah Skin, Fancy Homebody, I See You Wellness, Natural Radiant Life and Kimberly New York.

In recognition of International Self-Care Day (July 24) and National Black Business Month (August), Anthony’s list of self-care brands will each receive a $10,000 grant.

Anthony shared why Black Business Month is important to her and discussed the “Pause Now, Hustle Later” campaign and its goal to encourage self-care.

What inspired the “Pause Now, Hustle Later” campaign?

Self-care is so important and something I’ve said I want to focus more on because I’m such a workaholic, just [continuously] going and never stopping for self-care or paying attention to myself. … Also, we’re highlighting Black-owned self-care businesses, which is so important to me. Now and Later is doing something amazing and giving money to support these Black-owned self-care businesses. Of course, I wanted to be a part of that and highlight some great Black-owned self-care businesses, and also remind people how important it is to “pause now and hustle later,” and that it’s OK to stop and take care of yourself in between the craziness of work, parenting, relationships, and everything else that we deal with on a day-to-day basis.

How are Black-owned businesses benefiting?

Now and Later is giving a micro-grant to each one of these companies just to help them continue to grow. I hope by talking about them, there will be more eyes on them and people wanting to get more of their products. These are some of the brands that I love and use, and I just wanted to share them with everyone, but I love that Now and Later is putting their money where their mouth is so to speak, and just helping out financially because, at the end of the day, that’s what a lot of companies need to grow. It’s great that they’re doing that for these companies that I highlighted and companies that I know are amazing Black-owned self-care brands.

What does Black business mean to you personally?

Well, I’m a business owner as well. I have a 100% rice water hair care brand called Inala, that’s very important to me. It’s all about supporting. How can any of us in our companies grow, if we don’t have the support of each other? You hear about it all the time, to support Black-owned brands, support our own and let’s see them grow. We put so much money into all these other brands, so why not put money into our own? It’s very important to me, and it should be more than just a month, but in this month that we’re talking about it, we should go hard and highlight the Black-owned brands that are important to us.
