Britney Spears is celebrating her memoir making publishing history.
The “Toxic” singer, 41, released The Woman in Me autobiography on Tuesday, Oct. 24, after weeks of headlines about the book’s contents after it accidentally went on sale early in Mexico, and has now revealed it is the world’s fastest-selling celebrity life story.
She thanked her “supportive” fans in an Instagram post on Tuesday that said: “It’s happening!!! My book is the highest-selling celebrity memoir in history and it’s only day 1!!! Thank you to the fans who have been so supportive!!! Love you all!!! #TheWomanInMe @gallerybooks @simonandschuster.”
The book is now top of Amazon’s Best Sellers and Barnes and Noble’s Best Sellers lists, just over 24 hours since its official release.
Among the bombshells in the book is that Spears aborted Justin Timberlake’s baby when they were dating between 1999 and 2002 as he didn’t want to become a dad. She also hits out at her dad for his controlling behavior during her controversial 13-year conservatorship, which was officially ended last year in court, giving the singer control back over her life and finances.
Spears also revealed she infamously shaved her head in 2007 as a way of “pushing back” against the years of control. And she accuses Timberlake, now 42, of cheating on her with two famous women while they were together – one of whom is believed to be “All Saints” singer Nicole Appleton, 48.
She also says that her pregnancy with Timberlake was “a surprise” but not “a tragedy.”
“I loved Justin so much. I always expected us to have a family together one day. This would just be much earlier than I’d anticipated. But Justin definitely wasn’t happy about the pregnancy. He said we weren’t ready to have a baby in our lives, that we were way too young,” Spears added.
