Is IV hydration therapy for you? A nurse practitioner’s answer may surprise you

Melissa Pauline touts the benefits of getting a shot in the arm, and the blessings of owning a wellness clinic

Nurse practitioner Melissa Pauline is saving lives by making preventative treatment available.

Pauline opened the RejuvenateU Wellness Clinic in early 2020, quickly establishing it as one of Atlanta’s top spas. With more than 20 years of experience in emergency care, she is committed to providing accessible treatments for patients with vitamin and mineral deficiencies.

Pauline spoke to rolling out about why intravenous, or IV, hydration therapy is recommended and shared the benefits of other services offered.

What services do you offer?

We focus on overall well-being. We offer IV vitamin therapy.  This involves vitamin infusions that go directly into your bloodstream to boost your immune system, help you get back into shape or improve your overall well-being. We also provide medical skincare, specifically HydraFacials. Additionally, we offer hormone replacement therapy for men, specifically testosterone to help with vitality and quality of life. Lastly, we provide medical weight loss, using semaglutide and mounjaro.

How do those specific treatments assist with weight loss? Aren’t they used for diabetics?

These medications curb your appetite while also helping to keep your sugar levels low. They are also used by diabetics, but it is studied to be helpful for chronic weight loss management. Pharmacies often have trouble keeping the medications available because non-diabetics use them. These medications are best for those who have PCOS [polycystic ovary syndrome, a hormonal disorder] or who are insulin-resistant.

What is one of the most popular services people request?

The most popular service is called the Reboot. It is like taking a multivitamin once a day for 30 days, but it is administered through an IV drip once a month. It has the same consistency as the pills but is absorbed directly into the system through the IV instead of the digestive system.

What changes can people expect to see when using this treatment?

People can expect overall wellness, increased energy, and improved immune support. This can result in fewer colds and [less chance of] getting the flu, especially during those seasons. Overall, people feel great and experience an extra boost.

As a nurse practitioner, what made you open a spa?

I decided to open a medical spa because I usually work in a high-functioning area, such as the ICU, as a nurse practitioner. This spa is like my baby, a more comfortable and relaxing space. Spas are meant to be places of relaxation and comfort, and this spa focuses on self-care. My goal is to help prevent you from needing to meet me in the ICU at the hospital.
