Marlon Wayans of the legendary Wayans comedic dynasty says his daughter recently transitioned to a man.
Wayans, 51, made the revelation on “The Breakfast Club” syndicated morning radio show on Monday, Nov. 13, 2023. He said it took some time to get used to his daughter’s painstaking intropection to self-discovery and her new sexual orientation. He told DJ Envy and Charlamagne Tha God that he went from “ignorance and denial” to full love and acceptance over time.
“My transition as a parent, going from ignorance and denial to complete unconditional love and acceptance,” he said of 23-year-old Kai Wayans’ decision.
The comedian told the radio show that he is going to produce a comedy special, “Rainbow Child,” that will discuss this subject in full in hopes that it will help other parents who are experiencing similar situations with their children.
Wayans is best known for the hit comedy films and TV shows Mo’ Money (1992), Above the Rim (1994), Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood (1996), White Chicks (2004), Little Man (2006), “In Living Color” and “The Wayans Bros.”
Wayans, who just lost his father, said it is his job to provide a home that is a safe haven for his children where they can “be free” to be what they want and will make them “happier.”
“If they can’t get that in the household with their father and their mother, how the f–k do I send them out into the world with that kind of confidence?” he asked rhetorically. “I’m just so proud of them being them.”
