During the debut episode of Doja Cat’s new podcast, “Close Friends Only,” the girl talk flowed freely with inaugural guest Ice Spice eventually ‘fessing up to her huge crush on Usher.
Prompted by Doja’s inquiry “I feel like you can learn a lot about someone from this one: Who was your first ever celebrity crush?” The “Princess Diana” rapper was hesitant. “It’s so embarrassing,” she said while giggling before teasingly asking “I shouldn’t say it, right? Should I say it?”
After some reassuring from Doja that she didn’t have to answer if she didn’t want to and that it’s not embarrassing as long as her crush isn’t from her generation, Ice finally gave in.
“It can’t be because I was a kid,” she reasoned before relenting. “I’m just going to say it. It was Usher.”
The four-time Grammy nominee then opened up about the finally meeting the superstar crooner in person saying, “I saw him at the Met Gala. I was like — for the first time I’ve ever seen him — I’m like, ‘m God, it’s him.’ ”
While she didn’t go into specifics as to whether the pair had much interaction at the event, it’s obvious her affinity for Usher hasn’t gone away, with even referring him as a “gorgeous man” while on the topic.
Doja Cat, of course, has definitely recently interacted with Usher as a memorable recipient of one of his now infamous serenades to audience members with a special rendition of “There Goes My Baby” at his popular “My Way” residency in October.
