Lil Nas X is returning with a new song next week.
The “Old Town Road” rapper, 24, took to social media to share artwork and confirm his first track of 2024. The self-directed music video is coming next Friday, Jan. 12.
The art posted to Instagram appears to depict four drawings of Nas X as a priest with the following underneath: “In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost, amen.”
Nas X also spoke about being labelled a “one-hit wonder” and at the bottom of the post is where he appeared to confirm the release date for the unnamed track.
He wrote: “I love this constant cycle the world has with me. When I started making music yall told me I was just another twitter rapper. then I made the biggest song of all time. Yall called me a one hit wonder. then I dropped one the most streamed albums of the year with 3 top 5 hits. Now yall saying my new (music) not finna do nothing. At some point y’all gotta realize I am god’s favorite. 1/12/24 (sic)”
As well as teasing his new music, the ‘Industry Baby’ hitmaker has teased a new concert.
He wrote: “I know it’s been 2 years but….yall ready for a show? (sic)”
Nas X released his debut album Montero to acclaim in 2021.
Meanwhile, Nas X has been in the studio with PinkPantheress.
The music star – who has previously duetted with Billy Ray Cyrus and Jack Harlow – as well as the “Boys A Liar” singer are both viral stars of the TikTok generation, and they could be about to collaborate.
An insider told The Sun newspaper’s Bizarre column: “PinkPantheress and Lil Nas are both working on albums at the moment, and they really clicked after being introduced. They have a lot in common and have been in the studio together. It is yet to be seen what they have come up with, but they’ve certainly been inspiring each other.”
Nas X shot to fame when his country trap hit “Old Town Road” went viral in early 2019 before climbing the charts.
Pantheress, 23, reached number two in the UK and Australia with the viral tune “Boys A Liar,” while the 2023 remix featuring rapper Ice Spice became her first entry on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking in the top five.
