Actress Keke Palmer recently sparked an online discussion about racial and gender oppression with a candid Instagram post. Amid a court battle with her ex-boyfriend and the father of her son, Darius Jackson, Palmer addressed a question from Instagram she received from a fan: “How can I hate Black women when I date them?”

“It’s very easy to date someone you don’t respect when you are looking for ways to feel better about yourself.” Palmer responded. She elaborated, explaining that societal propaganda often positions Black women as less than, creating a situation where men feel they must “beat” their partners to feel superior.

However, Palmer emphasized the resilience of Black women, stating, “You can’t break a spirit that’s already been broken open.” She encouraged her followers to keep winning, rising against oppression and shattering the stereotypes that others may hold.

Despite the ongoing court battle, Palmer maintains a positive outlook, though some speculate she may be masking her true feelings. Her posts have ignited conversations about the intersection of race, gender and relationships, highlighting the challenges Black women often face.

Palmer ended her post with a rallying cry: “Keep winning y’all, keep creating the only reality there ever was which is us winning. In love, in work, in life, in everything!”
