FKA Twigs has teased a new techno-inspired album.

The musician has updated fans on the music she’s been working on, and she revealed she had been working in the studio on a new record — which she said is “coming out this year” — with electronic musician and collaborator Koreless.

“I moved to Prague a couple summers ago, fell in love with techno. The album isn’t techno but the spirit is there for real,” she said on her Discord server on Jan. 16, which was her birthday.

It sounds like the influence of electronic music will be felt heavily throughout the upcoming collection, which will be her first full-length album since 2019’s Magdalene.

Twigs referenced the electronic duo Two Shell elsewhere in the chat.

“I’m finishing my album, so not really listening to a lot of music right now. I like Two Shell,” she replied when she was asked what music she’s been listening to.

And although FKA Twigs — whose real name is Tahliah Barnett — has worked with some “talented friends” on the new LP, the album won’t feature as many collaborators as the 2022 mixtape, CAPRISONGS.

CAPRISONGS was collab heavy. I don’t like to repeat myself,” she explained.

At the time, she described the album as a document of her journey “falling in love with music and herself all over again.”

“Hey, I made you a mixtape, because when I feel you, I feel me and when I feel me, it feels good … CAPRISONGS is my journey back to myself through my amazing collaborators and friends,” she posted on Instagram alongside the artwork at the time.

Back in October, the “Killer” singer insisted she wouldn’t release any new music after 85 of her demos were leaked online.

“I got hacked — somebody leaked 85 of my demos. Well done. No new music for a while now — bye,” she announced on her Instagram Story at the time.
