Back in the day, hip-hop and R&B supergroups were formed with some of the hottest and most well-known people in the music industry. Usher has always been a big name in R&B, but he never formed a group with others around him. Apparently, he came close but it never worked out.
In an interview with Shannon Sharpe on “Club Shay Shay,” Usher told a story about how an ultimate hip-hop and R&B supergroup almost formed but didn’t happen.
Sharpe asked Usher if there was ever a time when he was asked to collaborate with someone and he turned it down.
“You gone hate me for this one,” Usher said. “Jay-Z, Pharrell, Diddy, and me were supposed to be a group.”

Sharpe then asked why he turned down the offer.
“I didn’t say ‘no.’ I didn’t say ‘yeah.’ I just think that we all got caught up in the moment,” Usher said. “We was talking about and having secret meetings about it. We were talking about music and how we gone flip it, and the business of it. Somehow we just got distracted and it never happened. That’s the one I actually wish would have happened.”
All four artists have been at the top of the music game at some point in their careers, and a supergroup with all of them would’ve probably made a lot of noise.
