Tyler Perry is ready to get Sister Act 3 on the big screen as soon as possible.

Fresh off the heels of his latest film, Mea Culpa, being all the talk, the 54-year-old media mogul is already looking ahead to the long planned third installment in the Sister Act franchise. Perry recently spoke with “Entertainment Tonight” and expressed his frustration about the production delay.

“I’m a little annoyed with how long this has taken me,” Perry shared with “ET.” “It’s taking so long, like I’ve done four movies since we started talking about this. When I’m outside producing with — you know, Disney’s a huge, wonderful company, but I really want to get this movie and Whoopi really wants to get this movie.”

Perry is locked in as producer on the film, and Goldberg will of course reprise her role as Dolores Van Cartier aka Sister Mary Clarence, but thus far no other cast members have signed on. For her part, Goldberg has been proactive in recruiting talent for the project having gotten a verbal “yes” from both Maggie Smith and Sheryl Lee Ralph, and putting word out that she’d like Nicki Minaj, Keke Palmer, and Lizzo to be a part of the film as well.

“It’s coming,” Goldberg promised on “ET” in 2002. “We gotta shoot it, but it’s happening. You’re never fully happy with a script because one of the things you find is you wanna have the space to make an adjustment if you need to. Sometimes what looks right on paper doesn’t come out of your mouth the right way. You have to move it around a little bit but I’m very hopeful people will be happy.”

First announced to be a Disney+ film in 2020, Sister Act 3 will serve as the long sought-after third installment in the franchise after 1992’s Sister Act and 1993’s Sister Act 2: Bad In The Habit.
