Hosted by the charismatic and very handsome Method Man, the 17th Annual ESSENCE Black Women In Hollywood Luncheon unfolded at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures. The event, themed “Radiant Power,” echoed with heartfelt speeches, joyous moments, and a celebration of collective accomplishments, reaffirming ESSENCE’s commitment to uplifting and illuminating Black Women in Hollywood. This year’s notable honorees included Danielle Brooks, Halle Bailey, Kathryn Busby, and Nkechi Okoro Carroll. 

During red carpet interviews with rolling out, Aldis Hodge, Judge Glenda Hatchett, Vanessa Bell-Calloway, and Robi Reed, shared their perspectives on radiant power. 


Hodge emphasized that radiant power stems from self-awareness, self-love, and standing in one’s own power, refusing to let others determine one’s value. Bell-Calloway described it as waking up secure, positive, and aware of one’s unique talents and power, standing in the space created specifically for oneself.

The atmosphere was beautifully decorated and filled with the fragrance of flowers. Guests exchanged hugs, warm greetings, and compliments, creating an atmosphere of anticipation for the upcoming awards presentation.


As the festivities began, Caroline Wanga, CEO of ESSENCE, addressed the audience, highlighting the legacy of ESSENCE as a brand belonging to the people. She emphasized the intersection of joy and justice, where community thrives, encouraging the celebration of collective power and accomplishments.

Chloe Bailey presented an award to her sister Halle Bailey, a moment filled with joy, tears, and triumph. Halle expressed gratitude for the support of ESSENCE, describing the organization as a steady light guiding them through challenges and celebrating the sweet aroma of success.

For 17 years, the ESSENCE Black Women In Hollywood luncheon has been a highly esteemed event for Black women, celebrating their contributions to the entertainment industry in conjunction with The Oscars. Wanga affirmed ESSENCE’s commitment to uplifting those who contribute to the entertainment culture and continuing the tradition of illuminating Black Women in Hollywood.
