The Mega Millions jackpot has grown to $735 million after the prize has gone without a winner since December 2023. If a winner comes out on top and matches the five white balls and gold Mega Ball at 11 p.m. EST on March 12, that will make it the game’s sixth-largest jackpot.

The winner will then be able to collect the prize through an annuity or a one-time lump sum payment of over $350 million.

The biggest grand prize winner was a ticket in Florida last year for $1.602 billion; the second-largest prize was $1.537 billion from a ticket in South Carolina.

Here’s how to win the Mega Millions grand prize:

When it comes to things like this, the first step in winning the money is knowing where to buy your ticket, whether it be a gas station, convenience store, or grocery store. Some airport terminals may sell lottery tickets as well. The Mega Millions drawings are on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Tickets for Mega Millions cost $2 per play, and you pick six numbers from two pools of numbers. The goal is to pick five different numbers from 1 to 70 for the white balls, and a number from 1 to 25 for the gold Mega Ball. If you match all the six winning numbers in the drawing, you’ll be on your way to winning $735 million.

If someone is feeling lucky, they can also play Powerball, which has increased to a grand prize of $559 million. The next drawing is Wednesday night.
