When GloRilla revealed in October 2022 on the “Big Boy’s Neighborhood” show that Cardi B is her cousin, it’s not that no one believed her. She didn’t provide much detail to the jaw-dropping revelation at the time.
But when Cardi herself appeared as a guest on the same show, the Bronx rap queen not only confirmed Glo’s claims but went a step further and broke down how the pair are related.
“A lot of people don’t know this; my grandfather used to push weight and everything, and there was this one time that he lived in Tennessee and whatever,” Cardi revealed. “He really told my grandma that he was dealing with somebody over there and then he had a kid out there and you know like, that’s GloRilla’s dad.”
“Yeah, that’s my cousin,” she related.
The “Bodak Yellow” rapper also disclosed that she confirmed the relationship between the two when she used the DNA genealogy company 23andMe. She couldn’t shake the “feeling” that the two had a much deeper connection than simple collaborators.
During Glo’s appearance on the show in 2022, the “Yeah Glo!” rapper spoke of the revelation but declined to give details due to the delicate nature of the matter.
“Foreal, foreal. That’s my cousin,” Glo said of Cardi when host Big Boy initially thought she was joking.
Shortly before Glo’s appearance on the program, she had recently dropped her soon-to-be critically acclaimed single with Cardi, “Tomorrow 2”, which was crowned one of 2022’s best 100 songs by outlets like Billboard and Rolling Stone.
Cardi B isn’t the only famous rapper in Glo’s family tree, it seems. Just last month, while appearing on the Past Your Bedtime podcast, the first lady of Yo Gotti’s CMG label revealed that she’s also cousins with Philly rapper Lil Uzi Vert.
