FKA Twigs has insisted her “window of tolerance is much smaller” after her breakup with Shia LaBeouf.

The singer — who started dating her Honey Boy co-star after meeting on the set of the 2019 film — filed a lawsuit in December 2020 alleging “relentless” abuse, which the actor has denied. The former partners are set to go to trial in August this year after proceedings were delayed in September 2023.

“I think naively I thought it would be like any other break-up, that I’d be sad for six months to a year, and then one day I’d wake up and everything would be fine. But the fact is being abused changes the whole of your nervous system,” Twigs alleged about the aftermath of their relationship in the April issue of British Vogue.

“Because my window of tolerance is now much smaller than it used to be, my body manifests stress in quite extreme ways — it really shows me when it’s upset,” she added.

LaBeouf denied all of her claims, including allegations of sexual and physical assault, battery and knowingly giving her a sexually transmitted disease.

Twigs — whose real name is Tahliah Debrett Barnett — has now said she had to “really listen” to herself in order to move on from the alleged abuse.

“I’ve had to be very compassionate with myself and really listen to myself to get better. Now I want to challenge myself to know more about the simple, most pure and important things: love, nature, food, a nontoxic lifestyle, my body. The path I’m on is not the pastel pink yoga leggings aesthetic,” she added.

In March 2023, the “Tears In The Club” hitmaker confirmed her new relationship with photographer and filmmaker Jordan Hemingway a year ago, having previously been in high-profile romances with the likes of actor Robert Pattinson and The 1975’s Matty Healy before LaBeouf.

“You know it just takes the right person. I’ve kissed a few frogs to get there, but I feel that Jordan listens to me and opens me up in a way that no one really has ever been able to,” Twigs said.
