In a legal maneuver that some find cringeworthy, deceased rapper Takeoff is being blamed for his own murder in November 2022.
The owner of 810 Billiards & Bowling in downtown Houston filed legal documents asserting that Takeoff is culpable in his own demise when he and others participated in an illegal dice game outside the venue.
The owners of the bowling alley also blame Patrick Clark — who was charged with Takeoff’s murder and the injury of bystanders — as well as Migos member Quavo.
Clark, meanwhile, remains out on a $1 million bond and is relegated to house arrest until his next court date in August 2024.
New lawsuit is countering the one filed by Takeoff’s mom
The owners’ filing is in response to the multimillion-dollar lawsuit filed against them by Takeoff’s mother, Titania Davenport. She accuses the venue of not providing additional security when they knew that Quavo and her son Takeoff were coming, according to the Los Angeles Times.
There has not been any settlement, and the owners of 810 Billiards & Bowling have requested that the lawsuit be dismissed. They also deny any negligence in the death of Takeoff, whose real name Kirshnik Ball.
Takeoff’s father and Quavo’s assistant also filed lawsuits against the bowling alley
Takeoff’s father, Kenneth Ball, is also seeking $1 million from the bowling alley, according to AllHipHop, due to suffering greatly since the killing of his son.
Moreover, Quavo’s assistant, Joshua Washington, filed a lawsuit against the establishment in August 2023, citing inadequate security and training. Washington was reportedly struck by a bullet on his right side and had to get himself to the hospital, according to RapUp.
