O.J. Simpson’s former sports agent says the former NFL star, who was acquitted of double murder, confessed to killing his ex-wife while high on a cocktail of drugs and alcohol.

The NFL-running-back-turned-actor, who died on April 10 at 76 from prostate cancer, avoided jail in 1995 when he was cleared in criminal court of killing his former wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman the previous year. Simpson was found liable for their deaths in a civil case brought by the pair’s families in 1997, in which he was also ordered to pay $33.5 million in compensation.

Simpson’s ex-sports agent Mike Gilbert opened up about the shamed late athlete’s alleged confession to the murder of Brown Simpson in his 2008 book, How I Helped OJ Get Away With Murder: The Shocking Inside Story of Violence, Loyalty, Regret and Remorse. Sections of the book have re-emerged in the wake of his late client’s death.

Gilbert said in the book Simpson confessed to killing Brown Simpson on the night of June 12, 1994, after he had taken a sleeping pill before smoking marijuana and drinking beer in his home in Brentwood, California.

“If she hadn’t opened that door with a knife in her hand … she’d still be alive,” he said Simpson mumbled.

“Nothing more needed to be said. O.J. had confessed to me. There’s no doubt in my mind,” Gilbert went on.

Brown Simpson — who was found in the fetal position in a pool of blood — was stabbed so fiercely in the attack that killed her medical examiners said she had almost been decapitated.

Simpson was acquitted after his blockbuster “Trial of the Century” saw his defense lawyer Johnnie Cochrane coin the phrase, “If it doesn’t fit, you must acquit,” after Simpson’s hand appeared not to fit into the blood-stained glove found on his property the day he was arrested on suspicion of butchering Brown Simpson and Goldman.

Gilbert says in his book he gave Simpson tips on how to make his hands swell so they wouldn’t fit into the infamous bloody gloves.

Simpson was represented by a defense team dubbed the “Dream Team,” which included high-priced lawyers Robert Shapiro, Robert Kardashian and Alan Dershowitz alongside Johnnie Cochran.

They argued DNA evidence in the case wasn’t properly handled by laboratory technicians and claimed the Los Angeles Police Department tainted the investigation.

After less than four hours of deliberation, a majority Black jury found Simpson not guilty of two counts of murder amid simmering racial tensions across America.

In 2008, Simpson was convicted of robbery and kidnapping and sentenced to 33 years. He was subsequently released by the Nevada Division of Parole and Probation in 2017.

  1. What different does it make now? You didn’t say anything then. So why are you talking about it now? What is actually in it for you?
Whatever he did or didn’t do.
He was acquitted of murder. He went to jail for robbery. And now he rests in God’s arms.So why are you people bringing up all of this negative negative things? There’s nothing you can do about it.What OJ did?He has to answer to God.And only God and let he who is without saying secrets and everything else.Cast the first Stone. You people should be ashamed of yourselves. You really ought to be ashamed of your self.

    1. Dude really? It is a current event news article. The story is obvuously of interest because you read it. People often come out with information after people die because fear of repercussions are lessened. Now I do question validity when information comes after the fact. But that’s ofyen how it goes.

        1. We knew before the verdict was read that he was guilty AND that he would be acquitted. Before the trial was over a black woman who was dismissed from the jury because she fell asleep said that that Jury would never convict a brother.

    2. I am with you @sandrarichardson People do way too much for clout of their 5-minutes of fame. It’s arguably irrelevant A.F!!

    3. I TOTALLY AGREE WITH YOU! WHAT difference does it make now. No one wants to start hearing this crap! We should have known something was going to start being said. I’m sick of it already.

    4. ABSOLUTELY. DISGUSTING DESPICABLE individual should have been arrested & convicted for aiding & abetting murder & obstruction of justice. Too bad there’s a statute of limitations. But since there is no SOL on murder maybe it’s not too late after all. One can only hope his karma catches up to him sooner than 0J’s did.

    5. Sandra, put a space after each and every period when starting a new sentence. But not now, what difference would it make?

    6. You really should feel real terrible that family has been through enough and you could not be man enough to do what was right so instead you decide to help him that’s real sad I’m no judge so I can’t judge the Lord does that you will pay you for what you’ve done that is not cool and all these years later you want to bring it up and make that family hurt even worse I feel sorry for you that this is the kind of publicity that you want have a good life hopefully they’ll pick up on this and you’ll get in some kind of trouble because somebody deserves it because the main one already died by the good grace of God he saved and he has to answer for his judgment but I have no clue have a nice life

    7. I totally agree. Never believed he’d risk a vicious attack on his ex-wife with the possibility of his kids waking up and seeing Daddy slicing Mommy’s neck and stabbing her to death! Not only that, people forget that his daughter, Sydney said her mommy received a call from her best friend Faye Resnick (who was fresh out of rehab, and had been staying with her shortly before this all went down). And she said Mommy was crying when she got off the phone. It came out that they both allegedly had a drug problem and owed somebody some money. And since OJ had cut off her cash flow, she was in trouble. There was also talk in the streets that the Mezzaluna restaurant Ron Goldman worked at, and where she ate at, was a known cocaine drop spot, where you could get whatever you wanted. Nobody wanted to look into that or Ron Goldman’s past, but trust me, he had one. And so did she. Google it. It always seemed like a drug hit to me. And there was a woman who testified that she saw 2 men parked outside of Nicole’s house that day when she was parked on the street. But Marcia Clark shut her testimony down and threatened her with an IRS investigation. They wanted it to be OJ so bad, they refused to look for anyone else. The thought of a wealthy famous black man murdering a his white ex-wife was just too tantalizing to pass up! The way she was murdered with her throat cut and her head nearly decapitated with her tongue pulled down through her neck is known as a Columbian necktie, or something like that. But the police didn’t want to address that aspect. I went to the crime scene after Robert Kardashian read OJ’s letter, because we were praying that he didn’t commit suicide. It ended up being the day of the slow speed chase. What I saw with my own eyes was that the space they fought in was very small. And so bloody that even though it was 5 days later, the blood had run down the sidewalk and was saturated to the point that they couldn’t even clean it up! It was easy to realize that whoever committed those murders had to be COVERED IN BLOOD! And so would their car. Especially with her throat cut. And especially on a WHITE FORD BRONCO! Those 3 tiny blood drops the cops claimed they found on the door handle or wherever were planted by them, as was the bloody glove and the socks; which had the same exact shape stain on BOTH sides, which the examiner even said “something wrong.” There was no way an ankle could’ve been in that sock and have the same exact stain on both sides! Plus OJ had white carpet in his home, and they didn’t find any blood in the pipes they tore apart in his house. I could go on, but I’ll just end by saying I was on jury duty in the same courthouse in Downtown LA when his criminal trial first started, and it was a true circus! I recorded the entire trial on my VCR and watched it daily. And it was clear to see that the news stations were slanting it to make the public believe OJ was guilty, because they would edit out what was said before and/or after the part they showed, which would be very misleading. One final point, while I was at the crime scene on Bundy, and OJ’s whereabouts were unknown at that time, I overheard a couple of officers speculating over who they thought did it, and all I’ll say is, it wasn’t OJ. While I won’t reveal the name,. I’ll just say if they were correct, I can understand why OJ would take the fall and never reveal it or testify. But he definitely knew who did it, and he wanted to keep his family and himself safe. Because if they did that to Nicole and Ron, what do you think they would’ve done to them??? I read every book that came out about the trial and only one touched on the person who I heard the police name. I feel bad for poor Nicole and Ron. They didn’t deserve to die that way. But I also feel sorry for OJ. If he did do it, the LAPD blew the case by planting and mishandling the evidence which allowed reasonable doubt to set in. I was never a big OJ fan. But just think, if he didnt do it, his rise and fall was so spectacular, that he could never recover from people despising him and believing he was guilty. The recent reading of his last will and testament has convinced me he’s protecting his family from the grave. May they all Rest In Peace. GOD will be the final judge. 🙏

    8. I totally agree 👍🏾 💯 💯 💯 💯 💯 💯 💯 💯 💯 💯 💯 💯 💯 💯 💯 💯 💯 💯 With you. It’s in the Makers Hand Now. And yes I feel this guy has his own agenda.

    9. How naive are you? The reasons for him bringing it up now are the same reasons for covering a murderer then: there is money to be made. The article even states it — he is promoting his book, which is — similar to OJs confession book “(if) I DID IT” back in demand right now.

    10. Period!!!!! People love to see someone in a bad position because they’re in misery already so it feels good to see someone else suffer it makes them feel good….they ain’t saying anything about blacks getting shot in the back? Police killing blacks at a high rate ? Mass shootings by whites? Yeah….lets talk about that and……..SLAVERY…let’s bring that up …

  2. Shame on you. You are no different than he was. You committed this crime just as he did.You should go to prison for what you did. Wonder if that was your daughter or your son , how would you feel know people helped him get away with such a horrific crime. Shame Shame on you.

  3. I think everyone knew he did the killings and now friends are saying yes he did had a stupid judge and all black jury what did people think would happen I feel so bad for the families and his kids

    1. No we don’t all believe that he OJ did it. Burden of proof is on the state. They didn’t prove their case. I believe it was a drug deal gone wrong. Nicole’s smart mouth got herself killed by that person. Why was Ron there in the first place? Why would OJ kill someone that he thought might be Nicole’s lover and jus meeting him that night for the first time. Wouldn’t he need to find out for sure and not have a knife as a fore thought. It doesn’t make sense.

  4. Oh, so you gave him tips on how to make the gloves not fit? You’re just as guilty as he is! You didn’t commit the crime, but you’re just as guilty as if you did. Instead of helping him you shoud have turned him in!!! What a pos!

  5. Actually he did say something about it in the past. I heard a radio interview with him over 10 years ago where he stated he told OJ to stop taking his arthritis medication so his hands would swell and the gloves would not fit. Doesn’t make him less culpable but he has said it in the past.

  6. What does an all black jury have to do with anything? What if it was an “ALL WHITE JURY”, then what? As a matter of almost all juries then and now (no matter what type of trial it is especially criminal cases) are predominantly “ALL WHITE”.

  7. How did he know the issue of the gloves was to come about. It was completely wreckless and unforseeable. I wonder how much is he trying to make for the book. Were he under a non-disclosure agreement?

Sounds like a damn liar to me looking to make money from a very tagic matter no mater whose at fault.

I agree wholeheartedly with Sandra Richardson.

    1. Anyone who has had a pair of real leather gloves knew that if they get wet they will shrink a size or two upon drying. Before you can wear them again they need to be restretched. They were metal glove stretchers back then so you could dry then and reduce the amount of shrinkage. I was suprise and still am that this fact was never mentioned.

  8. The article states that he’s bringing up information that he’d already published in his 2008 memoir. So he did say something. No one cared. Tho if all it took to create a homicidal maniac is some weed and beer, nobody is safe.

  9. I feel you should be charged for with holding information. Also accessory for telling them how to wear the gloves you f****** loser

  10. I agree with you Sandra Richardson. I don’t appreciate people coming way after the fact to tell what they say is “the truth”. It means absolutely nothing now. It would have meant the world to Nicole Brown’s and Ron Goldman’s family years ago. Take a hike guy. You want free publicity and to maybe sell a few more books.

  12. I don’t believe he confessed that to anyone, now you wanna make some money by people reading that bull crap that you’re putting out. Let that man rest in peace.
