NBA legend Charles Barkley made clear his abject disgust with the listless effort of the New Orleans Pelicans in their loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
Barkley said they deserved to vacation on a dirty beach near Houston, which angered Tina Knowles, a Houston area native and the mother of global goddess Beyoncé.
Barkley, a Hall of Famer-turned-Emmy-winning sports analyst for the NBA on TNT, said the Pelicans showed little to no pulse during their trouncing by the Thunder in the first-round playoff matchup. Therefore, he barked live on air that the Pelicans do not even deserve to go to Cancun, a favorite vacation destination for athletes and entertainers.
Instead, Barkley said Pelicans should be sentenced to the dirty beaches of Galveston, Texas, which sits on the Gulf of Mexico just south of Houston.
“Galveston,” Barkley spat out as co-host Shaquille O’Neal burst out laughing. “That dirty a– water. We not even gonna send them to Cancun. We’re gonna send them to Galveston where that dirty a– water be washing up on the shore. You people think they’re at the beach.”

Barkley reiterated his repulsion with the Pelicans, adding, “We ain’t sending you to Cancun. Y’all quit. Y’all get down to Galveston. C’mon man. They didn’t even try, man. We ain’t giving them no plane ticket to the beach. We send their a– to Galveston, Texas, right where that dirty water washes up on the beach. They can’t even get in the water.”

Barkley’s mocking of Galveston soon reached the ears of Knowles, who was not amused by Barkley’s jocular remarks on her hometown area.
Knowles half-jokingly poked at Barkley for metaphorically throwing trash on what he called a “dirty beach.”
“Chuck we don’t play about Galveston, Texas!,” she wrote on X. “You better watch it sucker! Our water might not be blue, but it is still the beach and we love it! In fact, what you probably don’t know is it’s an island.”
Knowles continued, “Yes me and @angiebeyince still rock our BOI necklaces (Born on the island). Jay sent this to me and Angie B Yesterday! He asked us if we’re gonna let him talk about our city like tha! All good @charleswbarkley we got a great laugh. So y’all don’t start no s—.”

When Barkley was read Knowles’ clap back, he clasped his hands together and apologized to the mother as his co-hosts laughed hysterically.
“I don’t want that smok. I don’t want he Beyhive (Beyoncé’s rabid fanbase) and Jay after me,” he said while chucking.
