There have been numerous feuds in the music industry over the past few weeks, and now the sports world is recreating its own involving former athletes and media personalities Shaq O’Neal and Shannon Sharpe.

The two Hall of Famers in their respective sport recently had a few words for each other after O’Neal told Nikola Jokić that he thought Shai Gilgeous-Alexander should’ve won NBA MVP over him this season.

On Sharpe’s show “Nightcap,” he brought up O’Neal’s comments and also mentioned the former player’s resume as well.

“Shaq should have five MVPs,” Sharpe said. “He sees a guy like Nikola Jokić that’s not as dominant as him and get three [MVPs] in four years. When you’re historically great they talk about you as [a] great basketball player — the G.O.A.T. — and Shaq is never brought up. And I think a part of him is envious of that.

“If Shaq would’ve had my work ethic, he’d have 40,000 points,” Sharpe continued.

O’Neal apparently took Sharpe’s words as disrespectful and went on a lengthy rant on Instagram aimed at the former NFL tight end, with a picture that said Sharpe is ranked No.51 in the “NFL’s 100 Greatest.”

“You took me sticking up @shai ask jealousy of joker. Shows how smart you are and how you say anything to get clicks. So here’s some click bait for you. If you ain’t ranked in the top ten in your profession, then you can’t speak on me. Don’t forget I know what you did to get where you at. Me jealous? sounds like you jealous. I know you tryna stay relevant by gossiping on your podcast. We don’t believe you. You need more people, and in case you forgot: four rings, three finals MVP, top 50 and top 75. Google me,” O’Neal said.

“And to be quite frank, all this new success you got, you still under me,” the former basketball player continued. “You don’t know my work ethic. but according [to you], I work less than you, but I’m worth more than you. Make it make sense. Love you to. If you need help making money, it’s better ways than gossiping. I’m too old for this s—. Love always the most dominant big man ever who never took it seriously. Remember, I don’t know you. And in the words of @skipbayless I’m better than you. #g14classification I have it; you don’t, not in my profession. And your G.O.A.T. debate, never wanted to be the G.O.A.T. I wanted to be who you should greet me as THE MOST DOMINANT EVER. #theapexpredator”

Shannon Sharpe responds to O’Neal

Sharpe responded to O’Neal on his next episode of “Nightcap” and questioned O’Neal’s work ethic once again.

“Am I equivalent to a football player as Shaq was as a basketball player? No,” Sharpe said. “But what I did do is that I maximized that. My question is, do you believe that you gave everything you possibly could to basketball? Did you train the way you should have, did you eat the way you should have? That just goes to show how great you were. You allowed your weight to get out of control, the injuries started to creep up, and you got four rings, and you got 3 Finals MVPs.”
