Caitlin Clark‘s first night in the WNBA was rough, to say the least.

The former University of Iowa superstar finished the night with a team-high 20 points, but on 5-of-15 shooting from the field, 4-of-11 from deep, and 3 assists to 10 turnovers. The 10 turnovers were the most ever in a WNBA debut.

“Definitely, the physicality [of the game led to her turnovers],” Clark said after the game. “Also, some uncharacteristic stuff like I picked up the ball and traveled. I dribbled off my foot. On an in-bounds pass, I turned it over. There were just a few things that have to be crisper.”

Clark and the Indiana Fever also lost 92-71 to the Connecticut Sun in the effort. Sun guard DiJonai Carrington had the primary defensive assignment against Clark, an effort she said she gives in every game.

Another thing fans pointed out from the game was the lack of targets to Fever All-Star center and former No. 1 pick Aliyah Boston. Boston finished the night with 4 points on 2-of-6 shooting from the field and 6 rebounds.

Clark and the Fever don’t have much time to dwell on the loss, as the team’s next game comes on May 16 at the New York Liberty.
