The Google Samsung XR/VR headset could be on the way sooner than consumers expected.

An insider spilled the beans to Business Insider, hinting that a developer version of the Android device could land in October, setting the stage for a full consumer launch in March 2025.

TM Roh, Samsung president and head of the Mobile Experience (MX) business has already dropped a not-so-subtle hint that something XR-related is coming “this year.”

Meanwhile, Samsung has declared that its new Galaxy Z series will “open the next chapter of Galaxy AI.”

The tech giant recently showcased its latest range of devices at the Galaxy Unpacked event in Paris. Among the shiny new toys were the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Flip6, plus the Galaxy Buds3 and Buds3 Pro.

In a press release, Samsung boasted that Galaxy AI “uses powerful, intelligent, and durable foldable experience to accelerate a new era of communication, productivity, and creativity.”

“Samsung is driven by a relentless focus on innovation. It’s embedded in our DNA, and this launch is a testament to that, bringing to our customers the next generation of foldables — our slimmest, lightest, and most durable yet,” added James Kitto, vice president and head of MX, Samsung UK and Ireland.

“This is the next frontier of Galaxy AI, supercharging this unique form factor with enhancements across features such as Circle to Search with Google — optimized for the ultimate user experience,” Kitto continued.

Kitto also highlighted Galaxy AI’s Interpreter feature, which uses the dual screen of their foldables to translate real-time conversations.

Samsung is also promising seven generations of OS upgrades and seven years of security updates.

The Galaxy Z Fold6 will come packed with AI features like Note Assist, Interpreter, Live Translate, and an integration with the latest Google Gemini app. And for creative souls, the AI-powered ProVisual Engine will offer an “advanced editing experience with Photo Assist,” alongside features like Portrait Studio and Instant Slow-Mo.
