Flying can be a stressful experience, but that’s no excuse for unacceptable behavior. Recently, former NFL player Gosder Cherilus made headlines for a shocking incident on a Delta Air Lines flight. The incident occurred on a flight from Boston to Dublin, which had to return to Boston due to Cherilus’ actions.
What happened on the flight?
According to reports from CBS News, on Aug. 18, around 2 a.m., Massachusetts State Police were called to Logan Airport after a Delta flight had to turn back because of an unruly passenger. Cherilus allegedly urinated on another passenger during the flight, prompting the crew to take action.
Police response
Troopers arrived and attempted to remove Cherilus from the plane. However, he reportedly became irate and uncooperative. Eventually, police escorted him to the jet bridge and placed him under arrest for disorderly conduct and disturbing a flight crew.
Impact on fellow passengers
This incident not only disrupted Cherilus’ travel plans but also affected all the other passengers on board. They had to be rebooked on a later flight to Dublin, causing significant delays. Imagine explaining to friends or family waiting in Ireland that your flight was delayed because of an out-of-control passenger!
Delta Air Lines’ statement
A spokesperson for Delta Air Lines stated, “Delta has zero tolerance for unlawful behavior and will cooperate with law enforcement to that end. We apologize to our customers for the delay in their travel.” This incident serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining decorum while traveling.
Cherilus apologizes
In a statement on X, Cherilus attributes his behavior to the sleeping medication he took prior to the flight. The post reads, “In preparation for the unexpected overnight flight, I took a sleeping medication that I don’t normally use, which resulted in behavior that is not representative of my character, and I would like to apologize to the passengers and flight crew.”
