In a recent episode of the “Nightcap” podcast hosted by Shannon Sharpe and Chad Johnson, hip-hop mogul Rick Ross opened up about his involvement in rap beefs and his approach to the music industry. The interview provided a candid look at Rozay’s mindset when it comes to responding to diss tracks and engaging in lyrical battles.

Understanding the beef

During the interview, Sharpe questioned Ross about his recent shots at former collaborator Drake. “I thought all y’all was cool?” Sharpe asked, highlighting the unexpected tension. “I’mma be honest on some rap s—-, it was no conspiracies. Rozay name was said, I’mma jump off the porch, that’s what I do … I’mma jump off the porch and I’m going to have some fun. That’s what I did, I had some fun,” Ross responded. This statement reflects the rappers playful yet competitive nature in the rap game.

Music over controversy

Ross emphasized that his involvement in beefs is not just about controversy but also about the music itself. “I just feel like, it’s a lot of dope s—- being made. I ain’t talking on no controversy type s—-, I’m just talking music,” he stated. This perspective showcases his dedication to the craft and the importance of creativity over drama.

When to respond

Sharpe also probed Ross on how he decides whether to respond to disses. “Is it something to gain for you? Somebody wake up and hate on Shay Shay, hate on Ocho, I mean … Let’s sit back. Because not responding is a response when you a boss,” Ross explained. This highlights Ross’s strategic approach to handling negativity in the industry.

Rick Ross’s history with rap beef

Earlier this year, the “Maybach Music” rapper made headlines by inserting himself into the ongoing beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar with his track “Champagne Moments.” This was a response to a leak of Drake’s reaction to Lamar’s verse on “Like That.” Since then, Ross has been playfully trolling Drake on social media, showcasing his knack for stirring the pot.

Ross’s history with rap beef is extensive, having been involved in feuds with notable artists like 50 Cent, Jeezy, The Game, Birdman, and Meek Mill. His long-standing rivalry with 50 Cent dates back to 2009 and continues to be a significant part of his narrative in the hip-hop world.

Rick Ross’s appearance on the “Nightcap” podcast shed light on his views regarding rap beef and the music industry. His insights reveal a balance between competition and creativity, making him a prominent figure in hip-hop culture.
