3 biggest takeaways from NFL Week 5

NFL Week 5 might’ve been the best week of football yet

Week 5 of the NFL season was an interesting one — and there is still one more game to be played! This week had it all: huge upsets, big comebacks and even a revenge game. These were the biggest takeaways of this past week of football.

Even when Dak wins, he loses

Everybody was ready to pile on Dak Prescott during Sunday Night Football. First off, the game was delayed for over an hour, so the game was played well past midnight with the game ending at nearly 1:30AM. The Dallas Cowboys were able to escape with a win against the Pittsburgh Steelers by the skin of their teeth. With about 20 second left in the game, Prescott threw a dime to wide receiver Jalen Tolbert in the endzone, giving them the 20-13 win over the Steelers. Prescott threw for 352 passing yards and two touchdowns. He would also make NFL history by becoming the first quarterback ever to throw multiple interceptions in the same game on two different days — not the kind of history Prescott wanted to make.

The Josh Allen MVP debate is over

Josh Allen started the year on fire, like he usually does. The Buffalo Bills started the year 3-0, dismantling the Arizona Cardinals, Jacksonville Jaguars and Miami Dolphins along the way. At the beginning of Week 4, Allen was the early season MVP frontrunner, ahead of the current reigning MVP Lamar Jackson, and the reigning Super Bowl MVP Patrick Mahomes. Then, on Thursday Night Football, Jackson and the Ravens handled Allen and the Bills pretty easily, giving the Bills their first loss this season. Last night the Bills faced off against the Houston Texas —  another team with Super Bowl hopes — and the result was the same, another bad loss for the Bills. The Bills are now 3-2, and Josh Allen’s MVP hopes seem to have vanished.

Aaron Rodgers might be cooked

The New York Jets season is spiraling fast, and there isn’t much hope that it will get better. First off, the coaching has been terrible. Everybody remembers Aaron Rodgers and coach Robert Salah’s dustup a few weeks ago on the sideline. They played nice in the postgame, but everybody could see there was some sort of tension there. Now, it seems like Rodgers might have lost all faith in his head coach. Then, Jets running back Breece Hall was supposed to return from his ACL injury and revitalize this team; he has done anything but that. Over the last two weeks, Hall has a grand total of 0 touchdowns and 27 rushing yards. The Jets or Rodgers can’t do anything with that, especially considering before the season he was a top five fantasy option.

Lastly, Aaron Rodgers just doesn’t look like himself. Yes, he is coming off an Achillies injury, but when has Rodgers ever threw three interceptions in a single game? The last time was nearly three years ago during his last season with the Green Bay Packers — and coincidentally, Rodgers also missed the NFL playoffs that year.
