Singer Christina Milian defended Blue Ivy Carter after she got backlash for the elegant gown she wore to the premiere of the Mufasa: The Lion King on Dec. 9.
Detractors decried that Blue Ivy — who accompanied her parents Beyoncé and Jay-Z on the red carpet — wore a strapless gown that was too risqué for a prepubescent girl.
On the “Sherri” talk show, Milian told critics that Blue’s outfit was “gorgeous” and to “mind their own business.”
Sherri Shepherd inquired about Milian’s thoughts as she visited the set to promote her show, “Dexter: Original Sin.”
“Earlier in the hot topics, we were talking about the backlash that Blue Ivy was getting for the dress that she was wearing for the Mufasa [The Lion King] premiere,” Shepherd began.
“Oh, my God!” Milian sighed as she rolled her eyes.
“You are the mother of a teenager. So what do you think of the dress?” Shepherd asked.
“With my motherly protection [mode], I immediately get turned up quick,” Milian began. “First of all, [Blue Ivy] looked gorgeous. And I think that anyone who has anything to say about anyone’s daughter — a minor — just mind your business.”
“She’s talented. She toured the world with her mom,” Milian continued. “There’s nothing you can say. You can’t dim that shine. Let that baby glow.”
“She’s so poised. She’s doing her thing,” the singer added.
