A former NFL player, Eric Moulds, is facing serious legal trouble after a woman in New York filed a lawsuit claiming he intentionally infected her and others with an incurable sexually transmitted disease. The allegations have raised eyebrows, particularly given Moulds’ previous status as a three-time Pro Bowler for the Buffalo Bills.

Details of the allegations

The lawsuit details a troubling encounter that began in January 2023 when the plaintiff met Moulds through Instagram. The former athlete allegedly offered her an all-expenses-paid trip to visit him in Charlotte, North Carolina. After accepting the offer, the two engaged in sexual relations, which continued throughout the year until November.

Unbeknownst to the plaintiff, Moulds allegedly carries the Herpes Simplex Virus Type 2, a virus that, while treatable, remains incurable once contracted. The situation took a dramatic turn in December when Moulds’ pregnant fiancée reached out to the plaintiff, urging her to get tested. The fiancée claimed that Moulds had previously infected other women, including herself.

Uncovering the truth

Upon receiving this alarming information, the plaintiff took the fiancée’s advice and subsequently tested positive for the virus. Further investigation revealed that Moulds had faced prior lawsuits for similar allegations, with claims that he specifically targeted single mothers who were fans of the Buffalo Bills.

The lawsuit states, “Plaintiff subsequently learned that Defendant had also engaged with multiple women besides Plaintiff via social media. Based upon information and belief, Defendant targeted single mothers who were Buffalo Bills fans living in Western New York.” This revelation has raised questions about Moulds’ behavior and intentions.

Legal actions and responses

The plaintiff’s lawsuit accuses Moulds of negligence, intentional infliction of emotional distress and failure to disclose his STD status. Additionally, it is alleged that Moulds paid other women to remain silent about their experiences by signing non-disclosure agreements. The plaintiff claims that Moulds attempted to employ the same tactic with her.

In response to the allegations, Moulds’ attorney, Frank LoTempio III, stated to Newsweek, “We are in the process of gathering information and responding to the complaint, which we will vigorously defend. I will have more information and comments once the litigation process starts.” This statement indicates that Moulds intends to contest the claims made against him.

The broader implications

This lawsuit not only highlights the serious issue of sexually transmitted diseases but also raises concerns about accountability and transparency in relationships, especially in the context of celebrity culture. The case serves as a reminder of the importance of open communication regarding sexual health and the potential consequences of failing to disclose such critical information.

As the legal proceedings unfold, many will be watching closely to see how this case develops and what implications it may have for both Moulds and the broader community. The outcome could set a precedent for similar cases in the future, particularly in how they address issues of consent and disclosure in intimate relationships.

The lawsuit against Moulds is a stark reminder of the complexities surrounding sexual health and the responsibilities individuals have toward their partners. As more details emerge, it will be crucial for the public to remain informed about the implications of this case and the importance of prioritizing health and safety in all relationships.
