Reginae Carter broke out in a wide smile and fits of laughter when the subject of rapper YFN Lucci was broached during a recent interview.

Carter and her mother, Toya Johnson-Rushing, visited the set of “The Morning Hustle Show” when the radio host Lore’l asked the daughter of rap icon Lil Wayne if she would be “spinning the block” with Lucci.

Reginae Carter and YFN Lucci are former lovers

Lucci and Carter dated for about two years, up until about the time he was arrested and thrown into the Fulton County Jail on murder and RICO charges in 2021. He has remained in jail since. He is due to be released at the end of January 2025.

As soon as Lore’l got the question out about a possible Carter and Lucci reunion, Johnson-Rushing channeled her inner lioness and intercepted the question intended for Carter.

“I don’t think it’s spinning the block season,” Johnson-Rushing said as her daughter giggled hard.

Johnson-Rushing elaborated on her statement, adding, “She don’t need to spin no blocks. She just need to focus like she say. But I do want her to find love with somebody that’s gonna treat her right and respect her. Somebody she can build and grow with, all that good stuff. But spinning the block, ain’t no blocks getting spinned.”

Carter concurred with her mother’s sentiments. While she said she’s happy that Lucci and his family now that he’s getting out of jail after four years, and there is no ill feelings between the two, she said resolutely there will be no reunion.

“But spinning the block and being back together, that’s not gonna happen.”

In fact, Carter said she has turned a corner on her philosophy of dating. She’s jealously protective of that part of her life whereas her love life was fodder for the public and bloggers. Now that she’s 26, she wants to be known for her art rather than who’s arm she is on.

“My relationships has been the highlight of my life. I just feel like people always obsessed with my relationships and don’t really pay attention to my craft and my talent,” Carter said soberly. “I’ll drop a movie the same week, but then be seen with a boy and that will get posted and not my movie. I want people to focus on me, because them men they are a [distraction] in my life,” she added.
