Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck have officially been declared single. This marks the end of one of Hollywood’s most watched relationships of the past decade, which captivated fans worldwide since their reunion.

The ‘On The Floor’ hitmaker, 55, and the ‘Gone Girl’ actor, 52, settled their divorce on January 6, however, court documents obtained by PEOPLE magazine confirmed their marriage was legally dissolved on Friday (21.02.25). Their divorce proceedings moved swiftly through the legal system, with both parties maintaining a professional approach throughout the process.

The exes rekindled their romance in 2021 and got married in 2022, but called it quits in 2024. Their reunion had captured global attention, coming nearly two decades after their first engagement ended in 2004, making them one of Hollywood’s most talked-about couples.

Jennifer filed for divorce on August 20 – the date of their second wedding anniversary – and cited “irreconcilable differences”. The timing of the filing on their anniversary added another layer of poignancy to the end of their relationship, which had been closely followed by media outlets and fans alike.

Court documents listed the date of their separation as April 26, 2024. During the months between their separation and the official filing, both stars maintained their professional commitments while managing their personal transitions with discretion.

The couple reached a settlement regarding their $61 million mansion, but specific details on that are being kept confidential. The property, located in Beverly Hills, stands as one of the most luxurious homes in the area, featuring state-of-the-art amenities and extensive security measures.

Legal documents also revealed that Jennifer intended to return to her maiden name of Jennifer Lynn Lopez. This decision reflects her ongoing commitment to her personal brand and identity, which has been synonymous with her successful career in entertainment.

It was previously reported by TMZ that each party would “walk away with what they individually acquired during the marriage”, meaning that the pair of them will get to keep whatever they earned during the production of their respective film projects whilst they were husband and wife. The arrangement speaks to the modern approach to marriage and divorce in Hollywood.

Meanwhile, Ben will “keep his stake in his production company Artists Equity” which he founded in 2022 along with fellow actor Matt Damon. The company has already established itself as a significant player in Hollywood, producing several noteworthy projects during its short existence.

It was recently claimed the pair want to continue being a part of each other’s lives for the sake of their families. Their commitment to maintaining a cordial relationship post-divorce sets a positive example for other celebrities facing similar situations.

“They have every intention of continuing to be in each other’s lives despite not being romantically involved,” a source told the New York Post Page Six column. “Ben and Jennifer are still connected and they do communicate when it involves their kids.” This approach to post-divorce relationships demonstrates their dedication to their children’s well-being.

Ben is dad to Violet, 19, Seraphina, 16, and Samuel, 12, from his marriage to Jennifer Garner, while the ‘Waiting for Tonight’ singer is mother to 16-year-old twins Emme and Max with ex Marc Anthony. Throughout their marriage, the blended family was often seen enjoying quality time together at various events and casual outings.

The end of their marriage concludes what fans dubbed “Bennifer 2.0,” a reference to their renewed relationship after their first romance in the early 2000s. Their reunion had been celebrated as a testament to timing and second chances in love, making their eventual separation particularly meaningful in Hollywood’s romantic history.

The divorce settlement appears to have been handled with minimal public drama, suggesting both parties prioritized a dignified conclusion to their relationship. Their pre-nuptial agreement, typical for high-profile celebrities, likely contributed to the smooth resolution of their shared assets and properties.

Both stars are expected to continue their successful careers in entertainment, with several projects already lined up for the coming years. Their professional lives remain robust, with each maintaining their status as leading figures in Hollywood.
