Nicki Minaj spat venom onto wax when she torched NFL Hall of Famer Shannon Sharpe and music magnate Jay-Z on the new remix of Lil Wayne’s hit song “Banned from NO.”

The Barbz femcee, whose real name is Onika Tanya Maraj-Petty, certainly exemplified her adopted surname when she lit into these two iconic sports and entertainment figures in the song that was dropped on Monday night, June 11.

Nicki Minaj exacts revenge for Shannon Sharpe’s slight

In the scathing track, Nicki lays into Sharpe, who is the owner of the “Club Shay Shay” and “Nightcap” podcasts and a frequent guest on ESPN’s popular sports talk show “First Take.”

In one verse, Nicki raps: “‘Bout to cop you slides, all you do is flip-flop/if I send a pic of Shannon, you ain’t that Sharpe.”

Initially, some fans were confused as to why Shannon Sharpe would catch a stray from Nicki. The “Moment 4 Life” raptress remembers when Sharpe tweeted “Nicki Who?” on Twitter (now known as X) several years ago as a supposed diss to her. Minaj just got her revenge.

Fans believe Nicki Minaj flamed Jay-Z

On Twitter, Minaj said she almost sent a few shots in the direction of “Nightcap” co-host Chad Ochocinco but decided not to since he was not the one who dissed Nicki.

Also on the track, the Jamaica, Queens artist fired off a few rounds at business and music impresario Jay-Z. As fans recall, the 2025 Super Bowl was held in New Orleans, the hometown of Nicky’s Cash Money labelmate Lil Wayne.

Many hip-hop fans believe that it was a major slap in the face to snub Lil Wayne for the coveted Super Bowl Halftime Show in favor of Kendrick Lamar. Through his historic and titanic beef with Drake, Lamar became the biggest and most transcendent star in music in 2024 and was rewarded by Jay-Z. His Roc Nation company is in charge of the halftime shows as the live music and entertainment strategist for the NFL.

So when Nicki unloaded this molten lava hot bar on “Banned from NO,” everyone believed she directed the shot squarely at Jay.

“NFL, Fire some n—-s and then call us,” Nicki raps on the song.

Neither Jay-Z nor Sharpe has commented publicly about Nicki’s sizzling track as of Tuesday morning.
