Engaged for 2 years, this star is now too busy to marry?

Nicole Scherzinger is too busy to marry. The entertainment industry has seen similar cases where performers delay personal milestones due to demanding career schedules, particularly in Broadway productions which require intense dedication and focus.

The 46-year-old singer has been engaged to Thom Evans for two years but she has been too dedicated to her “dream role” in Sunset Boulevard in London’s West End and then New York’s Broadway to do any wedding planning. Broadway shows typically demand extensive rehearsals, multiple performances weekly, and complete mental and physical commitment from performers.

“Oh, there’s no wedding planning, honey. When you do Broadway, it’s only Broadway. You eat, sleep – you don’t sleep much – and breathe Broadway,” she told Britain’s HELLO! magazine when asked about her wedding plans. The demanding nature of theatrical productions often consumes performers’ entire schedules, leaving little time for personal endeavors.

“Thank God I have a very understanding and wonderful and the most supportive fiancé,” she added.

Evans, a former rugby player turned model and actor, has consistently shown patience and support for Scherzinger’s career ambitions throughout their relationship, which has spanned several years of professional growth for both individuals.

Broadway, Broadway and more Broadway

And even after her current run on Broadway comes to an end, Scherzinger admitted she will be looking for another stage show. The global theater industry continues to thrive, with performers often moving between different productions to expand their repertoire and artistic range.

“I still want to do more,” she said. “This moment has made me dream again. Growing up as a Filipino girl, I always loved Miss Saigon. I would love to be a part of that show. Aurora in Kiss of the Spider Woman is another dream role. Another is to maybe create my own musical,” she said. Her Filipino heritage has deeply influenced her artistic aspirations, particularly her connection to stories that represent diverse cultural experiences on stage.

The former Pussycat Dolls singer also has her eye out for a “bold and daring” role on the big screen. Movie musicals have experienced renewed popularity in recent years, creating more opportunities for performers with both singing and acting abilities.

“I’d love some really bold and daring film roles,” she said. “I’d love to do a movie musical – maybe Sunset Boulevard as a movie. More than anything, I want to keep on doing stuff that shows all of me.” Her vision extends beyond traditional performance boundaries, seeking roles that showcase her full range of talents and cultural background.

“Oh my gosh, I would love to [have a baby]. I’ve never shied away from that. I can’t wait. It’s like the clock is ticking,” Scherzinger said. Last summer, she told The Times newspaper she would need to “make time” in order to start a family with Evans. The biological reality of timing creates additional pressure for women in demanding entertainment careers.

“I want to have a baby, but work calls. But I’m going to have to make time because, yes, I cannot wait to have children.” Her honest acknowledgment of the career-family balance struggle resonates with many women facing similar decisions in high-pressure professions.

“No, because my mother knows how hard I work and how passionate I am about what I do. She is a faithful woman and she just knows, everything in God’s timing,” when asked if her mom is pushing her to get on with starting a family, she replied. Her mother’s understanding and faith-based perspective provides emotional support during this period of career intensity.

Evans asked, ‘Will you marry me?’ in 2023

“I’m looking to get married soon. I proposed to my fiancée in June 2023. It was one of the best days of my life. Getting married to her and starting a family is something I can’t wait for,” Evans previously declared proposing to Scherzinger was the “best day” of his life and he “can’t wait” to get married and start a family with the singer, he told Men’s Health magazine. His enthusiasm for their future together contrasts with the practical challenges of coordinating their busy schedules.

Their relationship exemplifies modern couples navigating career peaks alongside personal commitments. Both partners have successfully transitioned between different entertainment sectors, understanding the sacrifices required for professional excellence. Scherzinger’s Broadway success represents a career milestone that required postponing other life plans, while Evans continues building his own entertainment career. Their mutual respect for each other’s ambitions creates a foundation for eventual marriage and family planning when the timing aligns with their professional goals.
