Angela Simmons has confirmed that she and Yo Gotti! have broken up after a whirlwind two-year relationship.

On the Angie Martinez IRL podcast, Simmons, 37, corroborated the monthlong rumors that had been swirling furiously for the past two months that the famed reality TV star and influencer was no longer seeing the rap boss.

Simmons confirms break up with Yo Gotti

The legendary New York radio show host quickly inquired on the show, saying, “Are you telling me right now you’re in your single-girl era again?”

Simmons calmly responded, “Not by choice, but you know, I respect him.” This confused Martinez because she didn’t know who broke up with whom. Martinez found it incredulous that Gotti, who famously pursued Simmons and even named her in a song, would have the audacity to blow up the relationship.

“This man proclaimed that he wanted to get with Angela Simmons,” Martinez said, referencing how Gotti publicly enunciated his crush on Simmons in 2016 hit “Down In The DM.”

Martinez continued asking, “This man, like, pursued you, so you’re not telling me that he ended it, did he end the relationship?”

Simmons initiated breakup

“I wouldn’t have chose it, but it was what was best,” Simmons said. “I could have probably been in and out of like four or five other relationships. People would have never known and gotten my feelings hurt or not or whatever. And I just wouldn’t speak on it because some stuff is just better left unsaid.”

Rumors of a break up had been ongoing for the past month

This confirmation comes almost a month after Simmons sparked breakup rumors by sharing a cryptic message on Instagram. On Thursday, May 22, Simmons produced this cryptic message for her 8.7 million Instagram followers, according to Vibe magazine. “I want what wants me in life. In all areas. What flows FLOWS. What goes GOES.” Moreover, Simmons carefully chose the Chris Brown and Usher track “New Flame” as background music for the post.

Earlier in the month, Simmons also penned this message that may have been giving off clues of the impending implosion of the relationship with Gotti, saying:

“Letting go, flowing free, exactly where I need 2 be🤍.”

Simmons explains the difficulty in dating her

Further into the interview, Simmons spoke to Martinez about the difficulty of men dating her. They have often formulated a “fantasy” of her based on the brief glimpses from the reality show that made her nationally known, “Run’s House.” Some men, she asserts, mistakenly assumed that the edited clips of her life from the show were all there was to her.

“Then you get in a relationship with me and you’re like, ‘Oh, I thought you were like this,’” Simmons explained to Martinez. “I’m like, ‘Bro, that was five seconds of my life.’ This is who I am.”
