Robert Shumake, also known as Shaman Shu, has transformed from federal defendant to whistleblower in a dramatic legal reversal. Currently facing charges related to Minerco stock manipulation, Shumake has filed explosive reports against the Securities and Exchange Commission itself.
His allegations claim an SEC investigator used false credentials in multiple federal cases, potentially affecting over 2,000 investors and billions in settlements. The businessman’s journey from helping secure clemency for former Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick to battling federal agencies has created accusations reaching the highest levels of government enforcement.
What exactly did you report to the SEC and what happened after you filed your whistleblower reports?
I have been in litigation with the Securities Exchange Commission for almost four years now. I worked with the Trump administration to help [former Detroit mayor] Kwame Kilpatrick receive clemency. Immediately after he received clemency, it was retaliation. I got sued literally within eight months by Securities Exchange Commission for securities fraud. A year later, the judge threw out securities fraud, saying it did not exist. They continued to fight me in court and I said, “I’m not settling for anything. I did not do anything wrong.”
About six weeks ago, the Securities Exchange Commission issued Report 96, where they stated that their chief investigator perjured himself, saying that he had an MBA degree from Kellogg. He does not have an MBA, that is a pure bona fide lie. He said that he was a CPA. He is not a CPA, he has not been a CPA since 2009. It’s almost like a doctor saying that they are working on a patient, and they no longer have their medical license.
I found 21 cases where I talked to individuals that had been sued by the SEC for the same reasons. One gentleman lost his business, had to file bankruptcy. He lost a $70 million company. I uncovered almost a billion dollars worth of lies. I’m now a federal whistleblower bringing this information forward about the fraudulent activities of the Securities and Exchange Commission.
Are you saying the U.S. government filed a case against you based on perjury?
Yes, based upon fraud by a fake case, 100 percent, not just on myself, but other individuals. None of this would have happened had it not been for me working with the Ebony Foundation to ask for Kwame Kilpatrick clemency. I, along with 400 pastors, Republicans and Democrats, asked for him to be released. Immediately after that, this is when they started targeting.
Can you break down how Pesach Glaser’s lies impacted your case and the others?
There would not have been any case had it not been for a lie. When you have an individual that is supposedly a CPA and he’s miscalculating numbers, to create a cover up, to create stress on not just myself, but other individuals. The judge himself threw out the actual securities fraud but they wouldn’t stop there. They kept fighting, saying, “No, we don’t care. We’re going to break you.”
This individual committed fraud, not just to myself, but 21 other individuals and fraud on a federal court. This is a criminal act. You cannot say you graduated from college with an MBA and you did not. You cannot say that you have a CPA and you haven’t had one since 2009.
What legal protections are you supposed to have as a whistleblower and how have they been violated?
As a whistleblower, I’m supposed to have federal protections no different than a witness protection program. There should not be any retaliation. They still try to retaliate against me right now. They still have yet to retract this individual’s information. They’re still trying to proceed with a lie.
Have they notified the 21 other cases that their person committed fraud? They haven’t done that. So, they’re trying to cover up the fraud. This is a law called the Dodd-Frank Act, that I am protected, and so for them to try to do that they’re literally violating the Constitution of the United States of America.
What role do you think the Biden Administration played in what happened to you?
I can’t say it was directly [President] Biden, but I’m from Michigan, this was a very big case when Kwame Kilpatrick went to prison. The old U.S. Attorney for Michigan, Barbara McQuade, [worked] under the Obama/Biden administration. People have long memories. They did not want me to help him trying to get out. They wanted him to have 28 years, which is like a lynching. So, after I worked with EBONY magazine, they bring him home. When Biden became President, he appointed a new U.S. Attorney. Those people still remember they did not want him home and they targeted me immediately.
What ways do you think we can make sure this doesn’t happen to the next whistleblower?
Expose, expose, expose. Tell the truth. It is the largest case in SEC history. They’re still trying to cover it up. I just read another article today by Fortune magazine about two SEC employees that ran the EDGAR system. They just got caught doing insider trading. So, the SEC themselves is not beyond reproach. There needs to be more strongholds, more systems in place. Mark Cuban, the billionaire, talked about what he experienced with the Securities Exchange Commission. They literally use themselves as a bully pulpit to hurt individuals.
You’re also known as Shaman Shu. How has your spiritual practice helped you survive this battle?
In prayer, when this happened to me, I just kept praying and talking to the Holy Spirit, talking to my ancestors. I wrote in my journal, I do this spiritual work, and that the way that this case will be solved was to expose the lies. And that’s exactly what has happened. I had no idea that the lie would come from the Securities Exchange Commission’s fake CPA, fake MBA. Doing my spiritual work of meditation and talking to the God in me, connected to the cosmic realm, all of these things working together has literally been a transformation. The whole point of shamanism has the ability to work within the spiritual realms to do this work.
Do you plan on launching a class action suit or civil rights suit?
We’ve already launched an administrative lawsuit. That is how I have a whistleblower number from the SEC. I’m contacting all the individuals. Some of them are starting to file their own lawsuits. I’m talking with them on a daily basis. We want justice. They have not even talked to the other individuals. They’re trying to cover up a scheme. The federal government is supposed to be beyond reproach, and yet it takes a person like us to tell these stories about what is happening in our own government.

The individuals that have been impacted by this or the thousands of investors that have been impacted by the SEC’s overreach can go to stopsecfraud.com to fill out a petition. We’ll contact them back and showcase them with our attorney team. We must expose the fraud, it’s a tragedy. They tried to exterminate me, but because they didn’t know I was a seed, and I have a God within me that I can actually rise and fight this thing and tell the truth about what has happened.
