That’s not all, delicious sides and desserts are on the menu too, including turkey chili, vegetarian red beans and rice, “I Don’t Eat Everybody’s” Potato Salad and signature CWeet (sweet) potato pie.

City Wings uses wholesome ingredients on their menu including Amish Chicken from Miller Farms in Indiana. “It’s lower in sodium, healthier for you and adds more flavor,” says Lancaster. All their seasoning blends are homemade and, rather than sauced up, most of their Buffalo wings have a dry rub.

Lancaster shares his story.

What made you start City Wings?
City Wings was something that I started when I was in college; some friends and I wanted to start a business and we had a few recipes came up with a few others and that’s how City Wings started.

How did you earn the title, Wing King?
The title Wing King actually came from somebody else. A friend of mine that helped me build this place, his name is Baker, we were talking to this Asian family and, long story short, the mother called me Chicken Boss. and that kinda morphed into Wing King. Because you can’t really be Chicken Boss [laughs].

What makes City Wings stand apart from other wing spots?
First thing is, we use all Amish chicken – unheard of at wing shops. Amish chicken is what I eat so that’s what I sell. When you start with a better product you’re gonna end with a better product. All of our spices are made in house. They’re freshly milled and they’re all kosher and we blend them up. All the all the sides are homemade specialty drinks are homemade.

Why choose to blend your own seasonings and have such an intricate process?
It really isn’t an intricate (or difficult) process. I eat out a lot and a lot of times there isn’t a lot of flavor in the food. It’s just a bad experience in a lot of places. So when we set out to do City Wings we wanted to make a better dining experience; from the food and the flavor to the atmosphere and the music. [The O’Jays play in the background] I’ve been a lot of places and I rarely hear the O’jays, which is a group that I love, over the speakers. That’s what I like so when me and the family set out to do this we set out to do stuff that we liked.

Is this a family owned business?
Absolutely my sister, couple of cousins, and my daughter’s here when she’s not in school.

Do you see yourself growing the business opening up more locations?
This is a franchise-able entity, it’s definitely very marketable. We haven’t gotten to that level yet but it won’t take long

How long have you been around?
We’ve been in business three years. Our anniversary was Sept 22.
