In partnership with contemporary artist Shepard Fairey, Lollapalooza 2014 has launched Art Alliance: The Provocateurs in Chicago. One of the largest shows of its kind, Art Alliance is set to feature a range of artists from around the world who will be showcasing their work together for the first time under one roof.
Art Alliance will be taking over Block 37 – a beautiful space encompassing an entire city block in the heart of Chicago’s downtown, just a short walk from the Lollapalooza festivities. The show opens today and will run through Aug. 4. Tickets are available for $12 at the door and all artwork will be available for purchase on-site.
“Art is increasingly about straddling worlds. That makes it a natural fit for music, which is doing a lot of the same things,” said Fairey.
At a recent luncheon, Fairely also mentioned that some of the artists who’ve served as inspirations for him are also being featured in the show.
A portion of all ticket sales will benefit Chicago Art Partnerships in Education, an organization that inspires students to be passionate about education by intertwining visual and performing arts into their classroom lessons.
