Martin Luther King Jr. and others fought, bled and died for the very rights for which the parents of Trayvon Martin — and much of the nation — seek at this very moment: truth and timely justice.
Trayvon’s parents, Tracy Martin and Sybrina Fulton, along with attorney Benjamin Crump will attend the “March for Justice and & the Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Candlelight Memorial Service” to commemorate the 44th anniversary of the day King was assassinated in Memphis, Tenn., from a sharpshooter at the Lorraine Hotel.
The march and candlelight vigil will focus on seeking justice for Trayvon Martin who was killed at close range by self-appointed neighborhood watch captain George Zimmerman on the night of the NBA All-Star Game in Sanford, Fla.
The evening will double as an opportunity to “Reclaim the Dream and Revitalize MLK Boulevard,” and will feature performances by Vickie Wynans and James Fortune & Fiya.
