Bobbi Kristina and Nick Gordon say Whitney wanted them to marry

Bobbi Kristina and Nick Gordon are usually quite vocal about their relationship, but ever since the on-again, off-again couple announced that they tied the knot back on Jan. 9, the newly married pair has been unusually silent about their nuptials. Now, in a new interview with Extra, the young couple open up about their new marriage and explain how Krissy’s late mother, Whitney Houston, would’ve felt about their relationship.

As most know, Krissy and Gordon have been the subject of much criticism and the butt of several jokes over their romance, due to Gordon being Krissy’s so-called “brother” as well as the couple’s substance abuse issues. However, the couple maintain that the criticism has only made them stronger.

“It put a fire in us,” Gordon said, to which Bobbi Kristina added, “It lit a fire up under our a– and we went haulin’.”

Gordon explained, “The critics can say whatever they want to say… it’s like we have a force field and that s**t’s just bouncing off of it.”

Much of the controversy surrounding them has been over the fact that they were raised together after Houston took Gordon in after his birth mother struggled to care for him. Because of that, many critics have looked at their relationship as taboo or incestuous, but the couple assure that people’s assumptions are wrong.

Nick said, “Me calling Whitney mom, this where everybody gets the…” Bobbi injected, “Brother and sister…” Nick added, “We were young. Krissy looked at me as an older brother and I looked at her as a little sister.”

Nick continued, “She (Whitney) just treated me like she gave birth to me. She treated me like a son. Excuse me for saying this… she treated me better than my birth mother. I owe everything to her.”

Despite the negative talk about their relationship, Krissy and Gordon assure that Houston predicted that they would fall in love and that she wanted them to be together.

“She made me promise several times to look after Krissy… and, Mom, I will never ever, ever break that promise.” Gordon said.

Krissy added, “She wanted this. This is something she wanted to see.”

And although reports claimed that the couple faced some harsh opposition from the family matriarch, Cissy Houston, who did indeed have a problem with their relationship at one point, they say that she gave them her blessing to get married.

“She told both of us that she loved us very, very, very much and Nick came up and he said ‘Grandma, I want to marry her. Is it okay? I need your blessing to do this, if I don’t have your blessing I won’t feel right’ and she looked at him and she smiled. She smiled very wide and said, ‘Yes, son, you have my blessing,’” Krissy explained.

Things between the couple and Krissy’s dad, Bobby Brown, were also tense at one point and Krissy made it publicly known that she and her dad weren’t on speaking terms. However, she now says that her relationship with her father has improved.

“We have a relationship. It’s a good one right now. At a point in time, we didn’t even have that… I love my father more than anything,” said Krissy.

Well, these two clearly seem inseparable and perhaps, as Houston predicted, they really are meant to be. – nicholas robinson
