At the Toronto International Film Festival 2012, the audience loved Cloud Atlas, which stars Halle Berry and Tom Hanks. The film’s world premiere was held on Saturday, Sept. 8 at the Canadian film festival, which continues through Sept. 16.
Directors Andy Wachowski, Lana Wachoswski (the siblings directed the three Matrix movies) and Tom Tykwer introduced the movie. As the film’s end credits showed, attendees gave the movie a standing ovation, reported the Los Angeles Times.
Cloud Atlas is scheduled to open at theaters across the country on Oct. 26 and is one of the fall’s most anticipated films. The movie is based on the 2004 bestselling novel by David Mitchell. The story spans centuries and includes “jumping back-and-forth between an 1849 sea voyage, 1936 Cambridge, 1970s San Francisco, 2012 London, 2144 “Neo Seoul,” and the 2300s” says the Hollywood Reporter.
The cast of Cloud Atlas also includes Hugh Grant, Jim Broadbent, James D’Arcy, Jim Sturgess, Hugo Weaving, Ben Whishaw, Keith David, Xun Zhou and Doona Bae. Made by Warner Bros., the film’s budget was more than $100 million.
