Chicago emcee Lupe Fiasco is known as a maverick in the hip-hop world.
Outspoken, brazen, and honest, Fiasco has garnered much attention in the past months for the release of his second single “b*tch bad” from his forthcoming album entitled “Food & Liquor 2: The Great American Rap Album Pt. 1,” as well as last week’s candid emotional moment with MTV’s Sway.
This past weekend, during a radio interview in Philadelphia, Lupe made a rather controversial comment aimed at President Obama’s foreign policy.
Lupe was asked who he felt was a positive influence in society, and he answered “I don’t know. On one hand, you have someone who is a great speaker, but kills little children — our president.”
Lupe Fiasco continued, “I’m talking about ordering a drone attack. Ordering drone attacks that go and kill mothers, innocent bystanders, children. Militants too, but the collateral damage. You’re responsible for that, too.” When radio DJ Mina SayWhat defended Obama stating, “Don’t you think he’s just trying to do what’s best for this country, and to protect this country?” Lupe responded, “A drug dealer can say the same thing. ‘I didn’t mean to kill all the people in the restaurant. I was just trying to get that one dude who killed my cousin. Just so happened that that little girl was there.’ Same thing.”
