‘Frankenweenie’: Movie Review

'Frankenweenie': Movie Review

Stars: Charlie Tahan,Winona Ryder
Studio: Disney Studios
Rated: PG

In 1984, Tim Burton made a quirky, short film as an homage to Mary Shelly’s Frankenstein called Frankenweenie. Fast-forward nearly 30 years and Burton resurrects Frankenweenie  for the big screen in glorious black and white. In the film, a boy named Victor loses his dog, Sparky, and decides to use “science” to bring his beloved doggie back to life. Talk about getting a new “leash on life.” But Victor quickly finds out that keeping Sparky under wraps isn’t as easy it seems. Soon friends, classmates and eventually the entire community find out about the newly reanimated Sparky, and all kinds of chaos and fun happens. “It’s Alive!” Frankenweenie is in theatres Oct. 5, in IMAX 3-D. –mike lawhorn
