Queen Latifah debuted her new syndicated talk show this Monday with the first guest actor John Travolta. Will Smith, Sharon Stone, Jamie Foxx, Alicia Keys and Jake Gyllenhaal follow later this week. The concept of the new Queen Latifah Show 2013 will be a multi-topic, daily syndicated show featuring celebrity interviews, human-interest stories and musical performances.
This is not the Queen’s first shot at daytime television. A previous syndication show hosted by Queen Latifah ran from September 13, 1999 until August 31, 2001.
Latifah has made it known that she would love to have guests such as President Obama, as well as Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, Coldplay and Kings of Leon.
She has made it clear that on her show there are a few topics that will be completely off limits – paternity DNA tests and her personal life.
“If that’s where you’re going, you might as well save me some time, and you some time. But other than that, I’m not really shying away from anything. It is my show. There’s nothing really new here to me,” she says. “If there’s something that comes up that I don’t want to talk about, I don’t talk about it. It’s that simple. No one is forcing me to talk about anything I don’t want to talk about. It’s about having fun with humor and heart.”
