Springsteen's E Street Band Saxophonist Clarence 'The Big Man' Clemons Dead at 69

Father’s Day weekend was very somber for family and friends of Saxophonist Clarence Clemons as the veteran musician has died at the age of 69 , reports the New York Times. The longtime member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band just recently suffered  from a stroke on June 13, and due to complications from the stroke, passed on Saturday, June 18. Clemons was a true saxophonist to the stars as throughout his career he has worked with artists such as Aretha Franklin, Lady Gaga, Ringo Starr and Jackson Browne. You may have also spotted the musician in a different light as an actor and he also made several cameo TV appearances, including cameo’s on Diff’rent Strokes, Nash Bridges, The Simpsons and The Wire.Springsteen's E Street Band Saxophonist Clarence 'The Big Man' Clemons Dead at 69

Earlier this year ‘The Big Man’ celebrated his 69th birthday and most recently appeared with Lady Gaga for a performance of her recent hit ‘The Edge Of Glory’ on ‘American Idol’.

Bruce Springsteen has paid tribute to his long-time friend on his website, he wrote: “We are honored and thankful to have known him and had the opportunity to stand beside him for nearly 40 years. He was my great friend, my partner, and with Clarence at my side, my band and I were able to tell a story far deeper than those simply contained in our music. His life, his memory, and his love will live on in that story and in our band.”
