B.J. Bernstein was hoping to resuscitate his career and recruit Major League Baseball’s next superstar pitcher when he created a reality show in India to find suitable candidates with the talent to play America’s favorite pastime. He did find two teenagers with the raw skills he was looking for, and so begins their training.
Hamm (“Mad Men”) puts in a credible performance, and Alan Arkin is also quite good as a scout. We’ve seen this theme played out many times, but somehow these two actors manage to put real snap into a film that could have been a real snoozer. –p.d. lee
