It’s hard to believe that LeBron James, Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh and the rest of the Heat had not lost since Super Bowl Weekend in early February, which seems so long ago now. But they did on Wednesday, March 27.
The Chicago Bulls — minus their two most important players, superstar Derrick Rose and the fierce Jakim Noah — close out with out a colossal regular-season victory 101-97 to end LBJ’s and the Miami Heat’s 27-game winning streak to keep the Los Angeles Lakers’ 1971 record of 33 consecutive wins intact. Highly-regarded small foward Luol Deng (28 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists) and Lebron’s former Cleveland Cavs teammate Carlos Boozer were the catalysts to steak out to an early double-digit lead and helped the Bulls hold on after the Heat predictably came back and even took the lead briefly in the 4th quarter.
Twitter was there with notes of congratulations for the Heat’s streak, gave kudos for the Bulls’ tenacity — and, of course, some good old fashioned trash-talking and hilarious joking at King James’ expense.
Not gonna lie though, the Heat’s streak was impressive. It was almost as long as LeBron’s forehead..
