Lil Mama is definitely taking advantage of the momentum gained with her jaw dropping turn as Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes in VH1’s biopic CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story.
The rapper/actress has parlayed that career defining role into a part time gig with the real TLC, and just now has been tapped to host the Spoken Word fest of the popular Pan African Film Festival. This year’s Spoken Word fest will carry the theme of “Music in the Rhymes” and will feature some of the nation’s best poets and spoken word artists.
Danny Glover, Ja’net DuBois, and Ayuko Babu created the Pan African Film Festival in 1992 to cater to and showcase works by artists of African descent that were being overlooked by bigger festivals such as Sundance.
This years Pan African Film Fest will be held in the upper middle-class predominantly African-American Los Angeles neighborhood of Baldwin Hills. The fest will run February 6-17.
